TuneIn Ancient Persian Magic
My special guest tonight is Dr. Stephen Flowers, here to unveil the powerful and ancient world of Mazdan magic, the original Persian magical system practiced by the legendary Magi. Drawing from his groundbreaking book Original Magic: The Rituals and Initiations of the Persian Magic, Dr. Flowers walks us through the history of Zoroastrianism, the sacred Zoroastrian calendar, and the mystical teachings rooted in the Indo-European magical tradition.
We explore how Mazdan rituals, fire magic, divine invocations, and Persian occult practices grew into the first organized system of magic—one so influential that the very word magic comes from the Magi themselves. Dr. Flowers reveals how ancient priests of Ahura Mazda used symbolic formulas, cosmic alignments, ritual technology, and graded initiatory practices to achieve wisdom, empowerment, and the betterment of the world.
We also discuss how Greek, Roman, Hebrew, early Christian, and even Chinese sources described the Magian tradition—and how modern systems of ceremonial magic still borrow from these ancient Iranian foundations. From the lore of the Three Wise Men to the reconstruction of authentic Mazdan esoteric teachings, this episode is a rare look into a magical lineage spanning four thousand years.
Prepare for a deep dive into Persian mysticism, occult history, Zarathustra’s teachings, and the quest for ushta—true spiritual happiness.
